A mural is a work of art created on wall surfaces, often in public spaces, that visually expresses cultural, social or aesthetic messages, transforming the urban environment into an open-air canvas.
A mural is more than just a work of art painted on a wall; it is a visual statement, an act of courage and creativity that transforms public space into a collective work. Born from the irrepressible energy of street artists, the mural expresses the soul of a city, captures untold stories and makes visible the voices of those who often remain invisible. Each brushstroke is a dialogue with the past, present and future, where color blends with architecture, reinventing the urban canvas and infusing places with life.
Through the mural, art leaves museums to embrace the community, celebrating freedom of expression and the power of the imagination. It is not just a painting, but a cultural manifesto, a rite of belonging and, above all, an invitation to see the world with new eyes, open to change and to the beauty hidden in everyday life. Murals are the art of the people, for the people, a reflection of our time and a window into what can be.
About me
My name is Marco Ilardi and I am a digital entrepreneur, owner of Micropedia.
I have been involved in custom software development, web applications and mobile applications for 25 years.
Why did I create this app?
One day I was in the suburbs and I saw a beautiful mural of a boy near the Ospedale del Mare in Ponticelli, a suburban neighborhood of Naples.
I saw that that beautiful mural wasn’t indicated on Google maps and I thought who knows how many people would like to see it and don’t even know it’s here.
How many street artists then create various murals and want to show them to everyone in a simple way without having to insert them on Google maps.
And this is how the completely free Murals app was born, available for Apple and Android.
